One Dress, Two Ways

There are two things I love getting from my monthly Gwynnie Bee subscription, swing dresses and anything from Alice and You.  I was delighted when my latest box showed up with this Alice &   You Swing Dress in Patchwork Paisley.  I haven been coveting it since the late summer and was so happy it showed up just in time for the weather to get a bit warmer here in NYC before the winter strikes us.

The colors are super vibrant and fun, a deter from my daily dark and minimal wardrobe.  As soon as I pulled it out of the box I knew I want to pair it with two definite items, anything maroon and my electric blue flats.  The two outfits I immediately threw together are great from going from day to night.

Look One: Fur Keeps

I got this faux fur vest at the end of the season from JcPenney in the Juniors section.  It is a piece I have always wanted to add to my closet but was not willing to commit a lot of money to, so when I saw it for $12 I felt like I had to have it.  On the bright side it happens to be in my favorite color.

I layered it over the patchwork dress in order to bring out the warm tones in the print as well as to play into the 1970’s vibe the print and silhouette give off.  For day time I threw on a pair of knee-high lace up boots.

If a faux fur vest is not your style or feels a bit much to integrate into your wardrobe try pairing a dress like this with a cargo vest or a trench vest like I did in the outfit below.

Look Two: It’s Electric!

I love loud and abrasive shoes that I know I will most likely never wear.  I scooped these Penny Loves Kenny flats up back in the spring from DSW because I was drawn to everything about them but unfortunately they don’t pair with very many options in my closet.  When I saw the bright blue and cool tones in this dress I knew I had found a match made in heaven.

Since this dress runs a bit short the flats work to perfectly balance out my hemline.  This look is great for spring and fall, you can add a simple black moto jacket for an edgier look.
